Team USA Para Surfer. Motivational Speaker.

Parker Olenick, 1 year old, on a red longboard in Kauai.

Parker was born 10 weeks premature and diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Parker was lucky enough to be born into a family of ocean lovers. So it was only natural for Parker to have a deep connection with anything in or on the water. He always felt most comfortable in the water.

After meeting the Captain of Team USA’s Adaptive Surf Team, Parker set his sites on becoming a competitive adaptive surfer. Parker entered his first WSA competition in 2018, at the age of 14, in the assisted Prone Division. During Covid, he trained hard to move into the unassisted Prone division. After graduating high school in 2022, Parker spent a year surfing in competitions around the world and entered SDSU as the first recruited collegiate Para Surfer. In the past year, Parker has competed in Hawaii, Wales, England, Spain, Japan, Costa Rica, and Australia. Placing first in Wales, England and Japan, 2nd in Jaco, Costa Rica and making it to the finals at the WSL Pantin Classic. This year he secured a spot on Team USA and will compete with his team at ISA Para Surfing World Championships in Huntington Beach, CA. Currently he is ranked 2nd in the 2023 Para Surf League and 6th in the 2024 Adaptive Surfing Professional Tour.

“The ocean is really the great equalizer. It doesn’t care who you are.” - Parker Olenick
